'Supermodel in a Bottle...' for a Minute

Product: Benefit High Beam
Price: $26
Rating: 1.5/5 stars
Review: I can't speak very highly of this product; it just simply is not worth the price tag, or, for that matter, the time it takes to apply it.  It disappears in a matter of seconds, barely highlights, and is really nothing more than a moisturizer in a tiny bottle with a subtle amount of shine for $26.  Now, if you've already purchased said disappointer and are giving it the evil eye, I've got an alternate use for it that almost makes up for the fact that it does NOT give you supermodel skin (someone told me this in a store and I nearly hugged said lady for being so kind and insightful).  Apply just a drop the eyelids, and inner corners sparingly.  It provides a nice, natural sheen either alone, or under/over eye makeup.  Not only that, but I'm pretty sure my shadows lasted longer with it as a base.  No need to throw away our Urban Decay Primer Potions, but still, helps you get through those days when you think of what you could have bought with that dough you dished out.

Limp Lashes

Product: Rimmel London Sexy Curves Waterproof Mascara in Black
Price: Around $9
Rating: 1.5/5 stars
Review: As drugstore mascaras go, it's a real hit or miss.  But either way, you're spending around $10 and it's ALWAYS good to have a backup.  Typically, they're nothing special and you can put them aside in your bag for quick touch-ups during the day, or at your desk, because you're not as afraid of losing them.  When I bought Rimmel's Sexy Curves Waterproof Mascara, on sale at $5 in Shoppers, it was hard to resist.  The price, the cute blue bottle, and the intriguingly shaped wand with the blue bristles.  In fact, even now I'll use it just 'cause it looks so fun.  But the product is completely disappointing.  i am extremely prone to racoon eyes, so I thought a waterproof mascara (it was my first) would solve the problem nicely, even if it wasn't in my typical brown formula.  I rushed home, applied some of the liner I'd bought the same day, and pulled out my Sexy Curves (even the name's fun to look at...and say).  Initially, i noticed it didn't apply with as much ease as I would have hoped (I do the wiggle at the roots then pull up trick).  Then, after wearing it in the hot sun for a very long day of shopping at eating ice cream (life is good) I came home to find those retched dark circles beneath my eyes.  Drat.  I had such high hopes.
Anyway, that isn't to say it wouldn't work on you; I've heard extremely high reviews for it, including one in Seventeen magazine a while back claiming it to be the best mascara out there. So if you're tempted by the packaging (who wouldn't be) I wouldn't want to make you feel bad if you bought it; we all need something pretty to spice up a day.

Love at First Swipe

Product: Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
Price: Around $9
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
Review:  I've been with a lot of mascaras.  Cheating, lying, flaking, you name it, my heart (and wallet) has been stompled all over one too many times.  But seriouslly, run to your local drug store, folks, 'cause a revolution's about to start.  This mascara is the bomb!  I've come to realize that Revlon, while not always being glamorous or fancy-shmancy, is a go-to.  I love everything from their blush to their nail polishes (mint green and violet, anyone?).  So it should have come as no surprise that when I tried the new Gorw Luscious mascara (modelled in the ads by the beautiful Jessica Biel, no less) I fell head-over-heels for it.
At first I was wary of the huge brush; clumps are a big no-no when you have blonde lashes and wear glasses like myself.  But I'll never go back to wee little brushes again!  It was a actually really fun to apply (wiggle, wiglle, brush out) and I nearly died when I looked in the mirror and say my extra-extra-large fringe!  Seriously, this stuff took me from droopy to Bambi in less than 10 seconds, before a second coat!  My heart started to pound, my cheeks started to warm, and I could feel it; I'd fallen in love.  Why the 4.5 stars and not 5?  Well, the formula got a little thich, just a little, by the third go-over.
P.S.  Any Fabulash product is great!  I tried the waterproof regular Fabulash mascara, and this is ideal for anyone looking for more seperation and definition.  And it was a snap to wipe off!
